Qualified Cognac Educator

Mr. Man's Chan, the Chairman of Hong Kong Miniature Liquor Club, possesses more than 14,000 miniature cognacs, with most of them having a long history of over a century. He is the one who possesses the most expensive miniature liquor as well as miniature cognac in Hong Kong. Although he is not the top of the world regarding the collection amount, his numerous collection of miniature cognac and miniature Remy Martin Louis XIII is definitely the best of a time, especially the miniature Remy Martin Louis XIII, the grandest dream of the miniature collectors, which most people could even hardly get a chance to take a good look at. And he has a collection of more than 30 bottles of miniature Remy Martin Louis XIII of different years, what an unbreakable record! That is why Mr. Chan is well-known as "the King of Cognac" among foreign collectors.

Apart from his collection of 14,000 different miniature liquors, he also collects the large-sized cognacs in the past two decades, which most of them are given to him by other collectors for miniature liquors for exchange. Now he has collected nearly a thousand bottles of precious cognacs.

Man's Chan accepted the invitation from Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC) to attend the 3-day Cognac Educator Course held in Cognac, France on 9 December 2012. A total of 14 experts in the Cognac industry from France, UK, German, US and India were invited to participate in this internationally known Cognac qualification course. Those who pass all strict professional requirements and standards will be awarded with the qualification of Cognac Educator and certificate will be given, and Mr. Chan has obtained the highest rank of the qualification - Gold Medal. He is the first Chinese person ever to get Gold Medal, and also the second Chinese person to be awarded with the qualification of Cognac Educator out of totally 44 qualified Cognac Educators in 3 years since the course started.

The 8th annual La Part des Anges auction and gala took place in Cognac on 19 September, 2013. Each year of La Part des Anges auction and gala, International Cognac Personality of Award will be awarded to those who are most involved and devoted to the Cognac Appellation. They will be responsible for promoting Cognac in other parts of the word as Cognac Educators. It was my honour to receive this award this year, as the first Chinese and the first Asian to be granted this award. There were 2 candidates who were awarded with the Les Cognac Awards in 2013, which makes it 12 worldwide in total.

He was very honoured to be the first Chinese to stand in front of 650 Cognac experts, and owners of Cognac Houses and chateau to deliver his speech as an awardee. It is not only an encouragement to my enthusiasm and effort to Cognac collection throughout the last 20 years; He believe the main reason is that the effect of China is growing rapidly, for them to give this award to a Chinese person. Therefore, this glory belongs to all Chinese!

He thinks that large-sized liquor is totally another field that involves value, transaction, liquor quality, market, etc., which is different from the concepts of miniature liquor collection. There is still room for learning for Mr. Man's Chan. This website aims at sharing his collection, raising profound and open discussions and exchanging valuable opinions among miniature liquor fans and experts.
